Park Now Open!
Hey everyone! Great news — the Elizabeth Sampson Playing Field in Connor Downs (which we’re renaming Sampson Park, by the way!) is now officially open to the public. Come on down and check it out!
Just a heads up, though — the weather has been absolutely awful lately, so some parts of the park aren’t quite ready yet. The grass needs time to grow, and the mud needs to dry out, so a few areas are still off limits for now.
The big one is the games area. We know you’re all itching to get a football game going, but please bear with us! If everyone piles in too soon, you’ll be playing in a mud pit for months — and nobody wants that.
The good news is there’s loads of cool new equipment to explore and a brilliant new path to ride around on in the meantime. Just keep in mind — no e-bikes, e-scooters, motorbikes, or anything like that on the path, and dogs aren’t allowed in the play park either.
Thanks so much for being respectful and looking out for each other.
A huge shoutout and thank you to everyone who helped make this happen — the Community Capacity Fund, the UK Government via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (through Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme), the Gwinear-Gwithian Sustainability Fund, Connor Downs Residents Association, and Gwinear-Gwithian Parish Council.
